2012 PINEWOOD DERBY SEASON

I love Pinewood Derby Season. It's one of my favorites. The irony of that is that I can't draw a car, drive a nail in straight, or use the sander without losing great quantities of flesh (and wrecking a manicure). This year we'll have several opportunities for your families to take part in the event. We'll kick it all off with JANUARY 2ND's PACK MEETING. Car kits will be available for 58-ers for $5 (includes block of wood, BSA wheels & axels, and all thE weights you need). Design sheets & official rules & regulatioins will also be available at that time for those who want a copy. PINEWOOD DERBY WORKSHOPS will be held JANUARY 7TH & 14TH 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at EGUMC. Most can get their cars nearly ready to go in one day's work. Lunch will be provided for a small fee both days ($1/slice pizza on the 7th & soup & sandwiches for $2/head on the 14th). Class Bs are appreciated-even with the risk of paint (one of my favorite stains is the perfect camouflage inprint of JJ's car from last year on Boo's last Cub shirt). PACK 58's PRACTICE DERBY is JANUARY 28th at 10:00 a.m. Just like last year, it won't be a cutthroat race but a fun time for everyone to see how they run & we'll have a tinker table set up for ya'll. Then we'll put 'em away until the whole Pack heads over to CROSSPOINT for the DISTRICT PINEWOOD DERBY on MARCH 17TH. Spear-heading the whole she-bang this year: one of my favorite 2nd dads, Terry Benjamin!
Fundraiser Alert!!!
By Jennifer on Nov 21, 2011 | In News, Calendar | Send feedback »
With the rest of winter's fun still ahead (pinewood derby, recharter fees, and dinner theater tickets) and a whole spring of events to look forward to (cub adventure weekend, spring campouts, new t shirts) a lot of us are wishing our cub accounts were a little fatter. Thus...another fundraiser.
If you'd like to pad your cubs account a bit more, please dress your favorite scout in his Class A uniform and join us selling candy bars at Food World in Rainbow City on Saturday, November 26th. The manager did our homework for us and expects great sales during the late morning/afternoon shift (prior to kickoff at 2:30), so we'll be out there from 10:30-2:00. Remember, cuteness sells, so have your cub in his Class A shirt & belt (optional: cap & neckerchief, we don't care what kind of pants so long as he's wearing pants!). And maybe feed them before you bring 'em, since peak hours are lunchtime!!!
